The American College of Mediterranean - The Institute of American Universities (ACM-IAU) Madrid
To complete the course curriculum, IAU hosts a plethora of guest speakers and lecturers from a wide breadth of disciplines including journalists, musicians, and political activists. Students who participate in this program will develop a deeper understanding of the Spanish language and its historical, economical, and cultural importance in Europe.

IAU Madrid offers a wide range of courses across disciplines like Spanish, art, business, and engineering, allowing students to fulfill diverse academic requirements through the General Studies Program or gain practical experience via the.
IAU Madrid offers four optional academic concentrations:
- Human Rights, Refugee and Migration Studies
- International Public Relations and Media
- Spanish Honors Program
- Sustainable Luxury, Management and Design
These concentrations provide focused study in English. Students participating in the Madrid program are required to take at least one Spanish course. All courses incorporate Madrid's cultural richness through required field studies.
Additionally, IAU offers summer programs with 3-week and 6-week options, as well as January , allowing students to travel for 2-3 weeks between their fall and spring semesters, or attend a seminar before their spring semester in Aix-en-Provence, Barcelona, Madrid, or Tangier.

In Madrid, IAU students have housing options in shared homestays offering language immersion and cultural exchange with local Spanish families, including daily breakfast and dinner, or shared apartments providing a multicultural co-living experience with access to kitchens and common areas for independent living. Both housing types offer shared bedrooms or single rooms, shared bathrooms, wifi access, and weekly laundry facilities, are conveniently located near public transportation (within a 40-minute commute to the IAU Madrid Center), and provide linens, though air conditioning is not typically available.

Visa
Students from the U.S. planning to study in Spain for more than 90 days must obtain a student visa. For stays under 90 days, a visa is usually not required. Applications for student visas to be submitted at least two months before the start of studies. Your passport must be valid for at least one year, and you鈥檒l need to provide proof of paid registration and valid health insurance.
