ACM-IAU's Florence, Italy campus offers two programs that are integrated with other international students as well as local Italian students, which allows for thoughtful collaboration to design high-impact academic and cultural experiences for students and partner universities. These joint academic programs each boast an impressive list of courses and are complemented by a important experiential learning components that include field studies to various parts of Tuscany, Rome, and Milan as well as trips to France, Spain, and Morocco, depending on the student’s course of study. In addition to the academic and experiential learning experiences, students will have the opportunity to participate in the lecture series that welcomes prestigious authors, journalists, and experts in their field.

Courses Offered

florenceIAU offers two dynamic programs in Florence. Both programs offer integrate Italian language instruction.

  1. Business, Fashion & Liberal Arts (BF&LA) Program
    • The BF&LA Program, in partnership with Accademia Italiana, features a diverse course catalog in art, design, business, and liberal arts, complemented by field studies that include day trips to Sienna/San Gimignano and Pisa/Lucca, along with weekend excursions to Rome and Verona/Mantua.Students studying history, literature will find a variety of appealing classes in this program.
  2. Performing Arts & Music (PA&M) Program
    • The PA&M Program, offered with Accademia Europea di Firenze, allows students to immerse themselves in Italian language, art, music, and performing arts in a vibrant historical setting, with field studies including three-day trips and a weekend excursion. Students studying political science and international relations will also find a variety of relevant courses in this program.

Additionally, IAU provides a 6-week summer program that includes two day trips.

FlorenceAccommodation

In Florence, students are housed in conveniently located, furnished, and fully equipped shared apartments within the city center, offering access to essential amenities and public transportation. Roommate requests are considered. Apartments provide shared living spaces, a full kitchen, Wi-Fi, and linens, though meals and laundry services are the students' responsibility. Air conditioning is typically not available.

IAU organizes welcome and closing dinners, along with other social events that include food. Living in IAU-arranged housing and adhering to the IAU Code of Conduct & Housing Rules are mandatory for all program participants.

Visa

For a long-term student visa (over 90 days) to Italy, U.S. applicants must submit the following documents: the entry visa application form, a recent passport-sized photograph, and a valid passport with an expiry date at least three months beyond the requested visa’s expiration. Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in a recognized program, health insurance (if not covered by agreements between Italy and the applicant's country), proof of accommodation in Italy, and evidence of financial support (at least €467.65 per month, totaling €6,079.45 annually). Additionally, proof of financial means for repatriation and language proficiency in Italian or English (depending on the program) are required. Minors must submit extra documents, including a translated birth certificate and parental consent. Non-EU applicants must apply for the visa at the competent n their country of residence and can find more details on the application process on the website.

Health Insurance

ACM-IAU offers health insurance through CHUBB, which is included in the program fee.
